The Circle: Half of my Heart

Friday, November 16, 2012

I'm so excited to be joining up with my good friend, Taleshia, and some other amazing bloggers to do a feature called "The Circle". We post/write about a photo (or photos) that perfectly depict - in our opinion - the song title of the week. This week, the song is Half of my Heart by John Mayer (featuring Taylor Swift, my long lost BFF).

I know this is supposed to be a general post of my impression/interpretation of the song in pictures, but I have to point out some lyrics to this song that really helped me in choosing my photo(s):

Then you come on crashing in,
Like the realest thing
Trying my best to understand
All that your love can bring

I'm not really sure about the context behind the rest of the song (lyrics overwhelm me; I can overanalyze for hours, and most of the time they mean something that I was oblivious to!)

Then you came crashing in, like the realest thing. Paul and I started out as friends. Best friends. Like... I got along with him better than any human being on the face of this earth, male or female. Lots of stuff happened between the time when we met and became friends  to the day in 2009 when we began dating - but I can tell you that the switch that flipped that changed our minds was a literal crash in our every day. There's no other way to describe it. It was like we were both hit over the head with a sledgehammer, and woke up dazed - looking at each other through brand new eyes. All of a sudden, I knew that this was the guy that God had planned for me all along. All of a sudden, everything made sense.

This is a picture of ONE of the reasons that he's captured half of my heart... his heart for worship. There's nothing more comforting, satisfying, beautiful and amazing than a man after God's own heart. Paul is that, and I am blessed.

Our wedding day, in October of 2010.

Now, I have to clarify, as I wrap this up: he only has half of my heart because the other half is taken by someone else

... coming in December ;)

Ok, and this dude... another half of my heart.
Apparently, I have three halves. It's my blog post, so I can do what I want. I love my little family!

Next up in The Circle:! :) Go check out their interpretation of Half of my Heart! And I'll be choosing the song this week! Let the brainstorming begin :)
