Porter: Your Ninth Week

48139_10151474499389938_1070537103_nI swear, you get to be more and more exciting as the days go by. This week, you're loving bath time! Hallelujah. There's nothing worse than a screaming, slippery baby. You now sit in your little bath chair with this hesitant expression on your face, like you're saying: "I should enjoy this, right? This is a good thing? Is that why you're smiling and cheering for me?":

In other news, you are still sleeping so, so well. We've discovered that putting you to bed around 10pm is perfect. And, I'm happy to say... you sleep in your crib every single night! Sometimes you stay up later, if you're ready to party, but you're usually always fast asleep no later than midnight. I'm just so thankful that your midnight witching-hour is long gone. That was an exciting time, let me tell you. It's so wonderful to have somewhat of a bedtime routine. I'm sure that just as we grow accustomed to this, you'll change your mind and we'll have to change our strategy... but for now, I'm absolutely loving it. When you get tired, I pick you up and cuddle you... you'll fight sleep for a minute, wiggling and fussing and spitting our your paci with your eyes barely open, but it's usually just a few minutes before you settle down and start to drift off to sleep. It's at that time I'll transfer you to your awaiting oasis: no lights, fan with light heat blowing, your white-noise giraffe and this annoying little music box that sings a lullaby that I recognize, but don't remember the name of. You're a tummy sleeper, and I wouldn't feel so comfortable with that if you didn't lift yourself up and turn your head back and forth all day long. Also, you're spitting up a little more than you used to, so I feel good about you being on your stomach for that reason, too. Usually you wake up from 6:30, which gives me just enough time to feed you and change you before I start work at 7:30. You hang out for a bit, but then you're right back down around 8am for a morning nap.

You are all smiles, all the time. Lately, too, you've been talking/singing to us when we talk/sing to you. You watch our lips, and mimic our "ooooh"s. It's the best. thing. ever. I got some adorable videos; I'm convinced you're trying to harmonize with me. Like father, like son!

You love your swing, it usually rocks you to sleep quickly. But then your head is hanging at an uncomfortable angle, so I always transfer you to the crib.

You're seeing the chiropractor every week now, and you love your adjustments. You always push yourself up on your hands and look at us, so proud.
