Porter: Your Fifteenth Week

Thursday, April 11, 2013

I have a bone to pick with you.

You're only fifteen weeks old, and you've now decided to go to bed without being rocked to sleep. You actually squirm and twist and pick up your head and stare at me, whimpering. One night, I was so confused... I didn't know what in the world you wanted?... so I just laid you down in your crib so I could run to the living room to grab your paci. When I did, you snuggled up and closed your eyes, drifting onto sleep within seconds.

Excuse me. What?

I thought it was just a fluke, but it began happening for nap times, too. You just decide when it's time to go to bed, and you put yourself to bed.

I'm not ok with it, but I'm dealing. I make myself an extra cup of coffee, or go wash my face, or change loads of laundry... stuff I normally put off or forget to do. Look what you've done... you've made me productive. Ugh.

One of my favorite things that you do, when you're nursing, is you rub your feet on my arm. It's the sweetest thing ever, and I don't even like feet. Yours are different though. They're pudgy and sometimes clammy, but they are the cutest things I've ever seen. You kick your feet as you eat, find my arm with your foot and push on it, slap your foot against the crook of my elbow. It literally melts me.

You're a chewing MACHINE. Can't get your hands out of your mouth, starting this week, haha. Teething? Maybe... or you've just discovered that you have five built in pacis per hand. You're kind of over your actual pacis now, ha.

You love watching Lennon now, too. You didn't care much about him for the first fifteen weeks. But, now, though... you are pretty awestruck over this pup. I can't wait until you're chasing him around, yanking on his ears, sitting on top of him, etc. He's so good to you, too. You two are destined to be great buddies.

  1. he is so cute! robin has really gotten into our cat lately too - he notices when he walks into the room and loves running his hands over his fur
